RV-4

RV-4 in flight

A 1/4 scale model for glow or electric power.

A favorite for recreation and cross-country travel, the full-size RV-4 is the most popular homebuilt in the world. This IMAA-legal, 1/4 scale model likewise earns high marks for versatility -- offering a realistic flight envelope whether you install a glow engine or electric brushless motor system.

  • An ideal first 1/4 scale model -- and for learning how to fly with flaps.

  • Assembles in as little as 20 hours, from factory-built and covered balsa/ply main structures and high-quality fiberglass parts.

  • Includes an aluminum spinner, durable formed aluminum landing gear and high-quality Great Planes brand hardware.

RV-4 Flaps
The RV-4 ARF's cockpit includes a rollover bar and an instrument panel whose gauges appear realistically recessed -- an effect gained by placing the instrument panel decal behind the laser-cut dashboard.
In addition to being an excellent first large-scale model, the RV-4 ARF is a fine choice for learning to add flaps to your control options. They aren't required for flight but can be used to slow the model for easier landings.

RV-4 Glow or Electric power
Despite its 1/4 scale dimensions, the RV-4 ARF is also designed for convenient transport. Its wing halves detach easily for fitting the model into your vehicle. At the field, the halves plug quickly and securely onto aluminum joiner tubes. The removable radio compartment hatch allows for easy access when installing the wing bolts.
Flown with the recommended glow engines or electric brushless motor systems, this ARF recreates the flight characteristics of the full-size homebuilt. An O.S.® FS-91 Surpass II glow engine offers excellent fuel economy and scale-like sound. The ElectriFlyTM RimFireTM 50-65-450 brushless motor delivers performance comparable to a .91 glow engine.
